Designer Spotlight: Ivan Gunawan

Ivan Gunawan said: Quiet luxury who? I don't know her - with his NYFW runway show. It was absolutely stunning:

Gunawan's SS24 collection fittingly entitled Maharani, is our first featured Gem here on Rani Routes, and was inspired by Majapahit Architecture. Gunawan describes the collection as "elegance meets history as we celebrate the grandeur of the Kingdom of Majapahit in every stitch, reflecting the majestic spires, intricate carvings, and regal motifs that once adorned the ancient temples." And we can't get enough of it.

Gunawan describes himself as a "SUPER MEGA BINTANG" and we can't help but agree that he seems to have a superstar personality and empire in Indonesia. He is also the founder of other fashion lines, a hair salon, and cosmetic companies in Indonesia, and we're looking forward to following his career and creations.

His Maharani was part of Indonesia Now's feature at NYFW, as well as a feature at Paris Fashion Week as shown above. NYFW's runway included not only Gunawan, but also six other designers, the full show is available here and we'd highly recommend taking a look.
